The flat is on the ground floor in a small block of nine situated on the waterfront of Swanage. The lounge/diner and two of the bedrooms feature panoramic views of the whole bay of Swanage. Even in bad weather the views can be spectacular, particularly when the sea is rough and the waves crash over the quayside and have been known to splash the windows!!
From the flat it is a short level walk to the main Swanage beach and town centre. In front of the flat is the old Stone Quay with fishing or sightseeing boat trips, and a small beach. The road directly behind the flat contains many restaurants and pubs, enabling guests to wander out of an evening without worrying about driving. There is reserved parking for 2 vehicles.
The flat was purchased by the current owners in August 2000 and since
then has been completely redecorated and refurbished to high standards.
The decor and furniture throughout is modern. The flat normally sleeps up to 7
adults, although an inflatable double mattress and an infant's fold-out foam
futon is also provided.
We regret no pets or animals are allowed. The flat is non-smoking,
but being on the ground floor, most smoking guests find it easy to slip
outside. The flat has full gas central heating with instant hot water and
is double glazed.
Facilities for children
Having a young family ourselves mean the flat is well equipped for youngsters. There is good access for pushchairs, a travel cot and high-chair are provided and there are plenty of plastic plates, bowls and cups (all dishwasher safe). A coldwater/microwave steriliser is also provided. There are plenty of toys, books and puzzles for the pre-school and junior school age group.
In Swanage there is an excellent fenced playground on the seafront, where adults can sit and enjoy the views over the bay of Swanage whilst the children play. There is also another adjacent playground with a bouncy castle, train and various other activities available for a small cost. About a 10 minute walk away from the seafront, by the main town carpark, is an excellent modern playground plus skateboard park. During the summer months the beach has a Punch & Judy show and a section of the sea is netted allowing children to play safely on floats.
Facilities for the disabled and elderly
The flat is well liked by our regular disabled and elderly guests, being
ground floor, and is "on the flat" for both town and beach. The lounge has good views of
all the seaside activities, especially boats visiting the quay and pier.
The bathroom and w.c. are equipped with convenient grab rails. A fold-down
support rail is positioned between the bath and W.C. in the bathroom. Please check
with us for any particular mobility access or special needs you may have.
Attractions in the area
The gently-sloping beach in Swanage is very sandy and generally the
water very calm, making it very safe for swimming. For really beautiful
unspoilt beaches a trip to Studland (a few miles away) is a must. The Purbeck
area around Swanage is very beautiful with many great walks and villages
to explore.
There is a scuba diving club and sailing club both close to the flat.
The cliffs are used by rock-climbers and there are many other outdoor pursuits
to follow.
Swanage boasts a vintage steam railway that offers rides to quaint
Corfe Castle.

- A fold-down support bar (grab rail) is available between the W.C. and the bath.

BEDROOMS

-second bedroom has a double bed (4ft 6), and panoramic sea views

-family room has a double bed (4ft 6) with a single highsleeper bed above (3ft). There is also a travel cot, and a further cushion type chair bed (most suitable for a child).
-Duvets and pillows are provided.
-each bedroom has both wardrobe and drawer space.
OTHER FACILITIES
-automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board
-a communal drying area at the rear of the flat plus an internal drying rack
-a communal paved area at the front of the flat with extensive sea views
SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS RE-ASSURANCE
-all soft furnishings meet the fire safety regulations and the
relevant gas and electrical safety requirements have been met. The flat
is protected with a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide detector.
